HOW WE WORK
So, you wrote a book. Congratulations! If you’re interested in taking the next step
to turn your manuscript into a professionally produced audiobook, you’re in the right place. Here’s an overview of how Red Planet Audiobooks works.
We accept submissions from independent authors or publishing houses who own all rights to their work. Once you submit your manuscript, we’ll give it a look-see to ensure that it’s something we can turn into a quality, professional audiobook. Within 15 days, we’ll contact you regarding acceptance of your work. After that, we’re off to the races!
Once accepted, you’ll pay 1/2 of your production fee up front. That fee is based on the word count of your book, and it’s the only thing you’ll ever owe us. Really. No nickel and diming, no hidden costs. If you know the word count of your manuscript, you can determine the entire cost of your project by consulting our fee schedule HERE.
Your Producer
Early on, you’ll be assigned a producer who will be your point of contact throughout the production process. Your producer will answer any questions you may have, keep you updated about your audiobook’s progress every step of the way, and ensure that your finished audiobook is of the highest possible quality.
Your producer will act as your advisor for a lot of important decisions, including cover design choices, narrator selection, and other pertinent design and packaging choices. Your producer will work hard to take the stress and uncertainty out of the production process– we keep track of all the details!
Once your audiobook is recorded, edited, quality-checked, and approved by you, it will be available for sale via major online retailers, through our own ONLINE SALES WEBSITE, and available for order or purchase at virtually any brick-and-mortar bookstore. In addition, your readers will be able to download digital copies of your audiobook through major online retailers and our e-commerce site. Your audiobook will be produced to professional industry standards, will have an associated ISBN, and will appear in the “Books In Print” database.
Are you ready for the best part? Until you recoup your production fee, you’ll keep 100% of all the profits for every single sale of your book. Yes, 100%. The only thing we’ll deduct is the manufacturing cost. After you’ve recouped your fee, you’ll keep 80% of the profits. In other words, we don’t get paid until you do! Sell a CD version of your book through our storefront, Worldwide Audiobooks? We’ll pass everything but the cost of manufacturing on to you! Sell a download at the same site? Keep every single penny!
